A computational analysis of the wave equation and it's visualization 2D planes
Waves are part of our everyday life. All the musical instruments including the drums contains a cirucular membrane that produces sound utilizing vibrations which is necessarily a wave generated in a circular drumhead. Mathmetically, to describe a wave we use a wave equation which is basically a PDE (Partial Differential Equation). To give a deep insight about what happens during a wave propagation, a computational analysis is done on the 2 dimensional wave equation on a circular membrane and a rectangular membrane using MATLAB. The PDE is solved for both the circular and rectangular membrane and the solution is visualized by plotting a 3D graph in MATLAB. The animation of the solution to the 2D wave equation on both circular and rectangular membrane gives a better insight about the equation and the operations of the equation.
